Hang out with Eagles, Chicken painting, Original Mixed Media Art on Canvas
In this family portrait of a Chicken and her young chick, I was wondering what advice a parent would give?
I am always telling my kids, that they will become the average of the five people who they spend the most time with which is why they should choose their friends wisely.
So what advice would a hen give her chick? Hang out with eagles.
I also got the idea for this title from a quote by Steve Maraboli, Unapologetically You: Reflections on Life and the Human Experience:
“If you hang out with chickens, you're going to cluck and if you hang out with eagles, you're going to fly.” ― Steve Maraboli
This sweet take on the subject matter of mother and child makes for a vibrant work that has a cottage feeling - The full grown hen leans over towards her chick, bringing to mind all of the advice given to us throughout our lives. Which advice have we kept and which turned out to be chicken scratch? Or maybe the older hen isn’t a mother at all, but an older sister, offering advice to her younger sister or brother. Who was your greatest mentor?
At first glance, this piece delights you with its rich tones, uplifting patterns and the company of chickens, but at closer glance, the many layers that make up this work give us the feeling that this piece is about more than just hens and chicks...perhaps this serves as a reminder to dream big, aim high, or follow your own advice if you’re one who is good at giving it. Hang out with Eagles!
This piece would go great in an area where you can be reminded to trust your own voice, your intuition, or be reminded to follow the advice you are hearing from your wisest sources. It would also make the perfect gift for someone who has made a difference in your life.
This whimsical and happy will alter the mood of your room and everyone in it. You will never get bored of discovering the textures and layers that complete this artwork. Discover something new each time you look at it.it.
